The project takes place this time over a complete year with for objective the precise study of an architectural space inserted into an urban, landscaped and architectural composition. The chosen site is the city of Chênée, situated in the confluence of Vesdre, Ourthe and its channel, occupied until the 70s by industrial activities bound to the steel industry (sheet metal workshop, foundry). On the tracks of the old factories a juxtaposition of volumes take place in an atmosphere of "organized chaos". These form a cultural center which has the peculiarity to favor the small crafts through a series of self-service workshops studios (ironworks, tapestry, etc.). The drawing of these volumes is made layer after layer, most appreciably possible, always from the existing tracks to preserve the history of the place. An urbanistic work at the level of the city through the implementation of new axes, new perspectives, allows to integrate perfectly the new center into the rest of the city. The railroad for example, is widen and decompose into several banks which are transformed into pedestrian terraces in connection with Ravel, to which come to cling volumes of houses and small shops. The existing cultural center of Chênée uses mainly existing buildings which do not answer to the functions required. This project thus proposes new adapted spaces to give a regional dimension to this cultural center. We find there in broad outline 3 big volumes around a square and a big industrial market surrounded by 2 wings of workshops.
